How to increase audio volume

Normalize vs. boost
Normalizing raises the track so its loudest peak just reaches the target ceiling you set — the cleanest way to get more level with no distortion. Leave the ceiling at −1 dBFS to stay safely below full scale and avoid clipping when the file is re-encoded, or push it to 0 dBFS for maximum level. Boost pushes beyond that, and the limiter catches the peaks so it stays loud without clipping. If a file barely gets louder after normalizing, it’s already near the ceiling.

Frequently asked questions
What is the peak ceiling (target dBFS)?
It’s the loudest level normalizing will reach. The default of −1 dBFS keeps a little headroom so the exported file won’t clip; set it to 0 dBFS for the absolute maximum, or lower (for example −3 dBFS) when you want a safer, quieter master.
Will boosting the volume distort my audio?
Not with this tool — a built-in limiter rounds off peaks instead of letting them clip. Very large boosts on already-loud material will limit heavily, which can sound squashed, so use the smallest boost that’s loud enough.
What’s the difference between this and a bass booster?
A bass booster raises only the low frequencies. This raises the overall volume of the whole track.
